Give What you Have

I was wrestling with an attitude problem because I had offered to cook a meal for someone that I really did not want to make. I don’t even like cooking! Thankfully, God has given me a husband whose favorite meal is tacos, but I worry others will not like what I make.

In the midst of this struggle, I opened my Bible to Judges 6. The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon telling him, “Go in the strength you have… Am I not sending you?… I will be with you.” Instead of standing up a bit taller and rushing into his calling, Gideon replied, “But Lord, my clan is the weakest, and I am the least in my family.”

Sometimes like Gideon, when given a task, I reply, “But Lord, I can’t cook. But Lord, my writing is so simple. But Lord, my painting is not good enough.” We may not think we have what is needed, but by giving it to God, He makes it into more than enough to supply what someone else needs.

So I give what I have and leave the results to God. I make a meal because I want to bless my friend not show off my gourmet cooking. Gideon felt inadequate and afraid because he forgot the most important factor. God was with him. God is with me, and God is with you too! Go in the strength you have, and God will accomplish His purposes through you.jugs
